"Grup Scolar Industrial Energetic" (Campina - Nov 2010)

     In the frame of Laser Fest activities initiated by the SPIE Student Chapter “Institute for Atomic Physics” on November 11, a group of students and the Chapter Advisor were invited at the “Industrial Energetic Scholar Group” from Campina – in the oil processing region – on the occasion of “ High School Days” event organized every year to promote the extra curricula activities.
     11 November was the Physics day and besides other activities for high school teachers the meeting with the last. The Power Point presentation regarding the development of the physics school on Physics Platform Magurele the celebration of 50 years of Laser in the world and the contribution of Romanian scientists was given by Dr. Clementina Timus. The presentation included also the activities developed by the Student Chapter.
     After this presentation the elected president of the Student Chapter, Viorel Nastasa, presented some of the chapter activities and with the help of Andra Militaru made some experiments using a laser diode an optical fiber and a spectrometer. The laser induced fluorescence (LIF) was one of the experiments and it consisted in the irradiation of Rhodamine 6G and the fluorescence spectrum had been registered.
     The audience consisted from last year students, physics teachers and both the directors of the school; the students were very content about the news of the presentation content. One of the students presented as well some experiments developed in the practical works organized by the physics teacher Adrian Chitu.
     The activity was organized with the help of OSA and SPIE.
